did quite a bit of site editing last last night. trimming verbiage worked on clarity
added crew list.
removed the note at top of home page about site in progress now it just says “Home”
put passwords on the neighborhood message boards to take them out of service for the moment.
Perhaps we should convert this single message board to a comments board for feedback?

What We’re Doing
Ride sharing on Bowen can be easy and friendly. Lifts and Hitching can once again become a convenient and regular tradition for dependable transportation and an enjoyable part of community life that Bowen can be proud of.
Offer and use lifts often – on the ferry, to and from our neighborhoods, and around the island.
Here are things we can do to share lifts as well as reduce our car use on Bowen right now:
Help create LIFT friendly culture on the island.
Pick up hitchers and offer rides to pedestrians when you can. It is lawful to offer rides. You are covered by ICBC for giving lifts – when you’re covered for normal carrying of passengers and you are sharing rides for free. Therefore, give lifts freely. Feel good. Drive safely. Buckle up and make sure your passengers do too.
Neighborhood Mirror Hanger / Dash Tags For Your Vehicle.
– Download Your Neighborhood Tag here and display it in your car to let folks
know you are willing to give a LIFT.
- Look for them on cars when you want a ride.
Neighborhood Ride Boards
Post Ride Offers and Requests on this website’s Neighborhood Ride Boards Here.
- Example communicate here for Neighborhood Ride Sharing on Fridays – when the school buses aren’t running – for rides to and from the School Ferry.

Ride sharing on Bowen can be easy and friendly. Lifts and Hitching can once again become a convenient and regular tradition for dependable transportation and an enjoyable part of community life that Bowen can be proud of.
Is it possible to move items listed under pages in the right hand margin to appear in a horizontal menu bar at the top of every page instead – under the the main logo “Bowen LIFT”
We need a list of what those links should be.
Home | Car Tags| Neighborhood Rides | School LIFT | News | About | Contact US
I am thinking we need more horizontal page space to accommodate Will’s notion of our 3 main projects horizontally.
Each page should have the search box at top.
What is the name of the new font we are now using? Leanne should be told.
This site has an email that is info at Bowen Lift dot com and I am wondering who checks that mailbox. The address is a clickable link in the sidebar at the end of OUR GOAL.
When I started to enter a message I didn’t see there were already comments below. Perhaps message scroll box could be smaller or pop bigger as you choose to use it?
Here was this afternoon’s draft opener:
“Let ride sharing be so easy, comfortable, habitual, and pleasurable that we know we can depend on islanders giving lifts on the ferry and around Bowen.”
How about something a little more elaborate? Please suggest improvements edits cuts alternatives etc.to the following or above.
Let’s rediscover that ride sharing on Bowen can be easy and pleasurable. Bowen LIFT’s goal is to see Lifts and Hitching again become a regular & successful way for friendly and dependable transportation in this special island community.
Let’s offer and use lifts on the ferry, around the island and in our neighborhoods often.

This is a test to see what HTML works in these comments. I know that it turns URLs into links without having to write code. But, what if I wanted to write something in a different color? I am using the HTML that should make this red. Okay, we’ll see how that looks.
I don’t need to put in any code to create new paragraphs. Just hitting the return key works like a typewriter.
This this paragraph is meant to be bold and italics.
This paragraph is meant to be in larger type
And this is meant to be centered
Since the colour, alignment, and font size use the div and span commands, they may not work. We’ll see.
Oh-oh. The last comment I made is being held for moderation. I am wondering why. Maybe because I have 4 URLs for you to click. WordPress thinks that I must be a spammer creating links to my nasty sites. Okay, but you won’t see that wonderful comment until an admin blesses it.
There is a little MAC program called DropLr that makes is dead easy to stash files for people to retrieve. Read about it here… http://droplr.com/hello
For a few days I will leave a zipped file of a couple of large version of a BowenLIFT icon, one in JPG and the other in PNG with a transparent background. See if you can go to this URL and download it… http://drp.ly/Ulki
Okay, there are some people out there without a MAC. I think you can still pick up that file. But what if you want to post a file? I think Dropbox is so useful that everyone should have one.

Okay… this is the comment. Yes, the one above. It required an admin to bless it because, as you can see it is full of suspicious URL links. But the nice admin has made it all right now. I hope you find it worth the wait.
I will be off island all day tomorrow (Tuesday) and beginning full-time employment in web design and development on Wednesday. So meeting with me will be tricky this week! I would welcome feedback and especially CONTENT for the site as I can work on it early in the morning and late at night. Thanks!

Is there a way to edit or delete your own comments once they are posted? What if you goof? Or hate what you said 2 minutes later?

I think you have 2 options:
1. Reply to your comment to say that you’ve goofed.
2. Call the admin and beg to have your comment edited.

When using the comment box on the forum a little tool bar with buttons for bold, underline , italics etc.appears.
Can a feature like that be activated here?
